Easter at LifeSpring
As much as I love holidays, nothing compares with Easter in terms of significance. Christmas is great because it opens the story of Jesus, but it was his death and resurrection that changed everything on Earth...and beyond!
Just try to imagine what your life would be like if Jesus hadn't sacrificed himself and risen again. Just thinking about it adds clarity to the celebration, doesn't it?
This year we're celebrating Christ’s resurrection in more ways than ever, with a package of events designed to reach out to neighboring communities and magnify our risen Savior.
First is our helicopter egg drop. It's scheduled for Saturday, April 1, to allow us to focus on the importance of Christ's victory over death the following weekend.
We'll get the party started at 1:00 p.m. with games, music, bounce houses, and food trucks. Egg drops will occur around 1:45 and 2:00 p.m.; a total of 25,000 eggs will be available for kids to gather. We expect a large crowd, so make sure you get here well in advance of the drop times!
With exception of the food trucks, this event is entirely free, so invite your friends and family and their kids to come have a great time with us.
Next on the schedule is something we've never done before: a Good Friday communion service. This simple, hour-long service will provide an opportunity to reflect on the significance of Jesus' sacrifice. We'll worship, hear the message of the cross, and share in communion together in advance of Easter Sunday. This service will start at 7:15 p.m. FYI: LifeSpring Kids will be open for children.
Finally, our Easter celebration will climax with Sunday morning with three services: 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30 a.m. They'll be similar to our regular services and will include LifeSpring Kids and free coffee and donuts. Although group communion will not be offered, you are more than welcome to observe privately using implements at the back of the auditorium.
With so many ways to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus this year, we hope to see you during one or more events! When making plans, I hope you’ll ask your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers to be a part. You never know what might open their hearts to Jesus.
Before closing, I want to share a story from one of our sponsored missionaries. Our own Molly Buck works with No Boundaries International, a restoration ministry based in Oklahoma City. Here’s part of an email she sent recently...
A certain man we’ve been ministering to for two years is getting baptized! We met him near a super shady motel we take our food truck to. At first, he thought he was a superhero, couldn't hold a conversation, and wasn’t in his right mind. But we kept going back. One day he was coherent enough to ask for help. We took him to a facility where they helped his mind stabilize; he’s been in a program for a few months, is in his right mind, and is being baptized!
A couple of things in Molly’s report really stood out to me. First, I can’t overstate the importance of your support to this man’s life. There’s no telling where he’d be now if Molly and No Boundaries International hadn’t been there to help! The second is that they were persistent. I invite you to celebrate this win for Christ with me, and to keep working to expand the Kingdom of Heaven, knowing your faithful effort will pay dividends. God guarantees it!
